ROUGH WEATHER

DAMAGE IN WESTPORT DISTRICT. ROADS BLOCKED AND BRIDGE DESTROYED. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WESTPORT, April 5. The Easter weather was the worst experienced in Westport and district for over 20 years. Soaking rains caused numerous slips on both the coastal road and the road through the Buller Gorge. About 100 feet of the approach to Fox's River on the coastal road was washed away and repairs are not likely to be effected under a fortnight. In other parts of the district roads were blocked and at Inangahua Junction a bridge was swept away.
