EKETAHUNA
VITAL STATISTICS FIGURES FOR MARCH QUARTER, ("Times-Age” Special.) There were 15 births and one death in Eketahuna during the quarter ended March 31. No marriages were celebrated during that period. Eketahuna Airman Loses Life. ' A letter has been received in Eketahuna from Mrs Roger Ford-Hutchin-son, of Stranocum, County Antrim, Ireland, and late of Eketahuna, in which she states that their-airman son) Frances, who was born in Eketahuna, lost his life while bombing in France on July 24, the official announcement not being made till November. He was flying a new machine and was shot down. He was buried with honours at La Rochelle, nearly 4,000 people paying tribute to his youth and bravery. He was a Sergeant Pilot at 19. When Belfast was being bombed he cut short his leave and missed sitting for his final course of instruction in England and left to fight. Paul, their second son, is home from long service in the Middle East with an artificial leg and is continuing his studies. Randall, another son, is a member of the College R.A.F. Cadet Corps. Mr and Mrs FordHutchinson had 25 evacuees from Belfast in their home after the bombing there.
