PARTIES IN BRITAIN

STATEMENT BY MR CHURCHILL ROUNDLY CHALLENGED BY LABOUR. “OBJECTIONABLE PARTISAN PROPAGANDA.” (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, March 31. Commenting on a statement by the Prime Minister, Mr Churchill, at the annual meeting of the Conservative Party, that “When the war came the Conservative Party proved itself the main part of the rock on which the salvation of Britain is founded and mankinds freedom will be regained,” the Labour Party’s official Press service says: “It is a matter for surprise and resentment that Mr Churchill should begin to award party credit when the Allied cause is passing through dark days. Mr Churchill’s declaration is untimely, untrue, impolitic, and ungenerous to his collaborators, and it is a violation of the spirit of political co-operation which is an essential basis of his Government. The Prime Minister's unfortunate declaration is a disservice to himself and the national cause. “Allowing for the fact that Mr Churchill was addressing party supporters, the fact remains that the Prime Minister blundered badly and was guilty of objectionable partisanpropaganda. We suggest that he would be wise not to repeat the blunder.
