BROADCAST TONIGHT

ON PROPOSALS TO INDIA SIR S. CRIPPS QUITE SATISFIED SO FAR. TALK WITH MR GANDHI HELFUL. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, March 28. The Lord Privy Seal, Sir Stafford Cripps, stated at a Press conference in New Delhi that the British Cabinet’s proposals for India would be published on Monday morning, and he would broadcast on these proposals on Monday evening. He stated: “I am quite satisfied with the progress of the talks so far, and I hope to stick to my original schedule and return within two weeks. My talks with Mr Gandhi was extremely helpful. I am meeting the Viceroy every evening to tell him my experiences of the day.” Sir Stafford Cripps also slated that the only change so far in the proposals was a slight alteration in the wording of one sentence which made its meaning clear. He declared that he did not want to leave India before he knew whether the British proposals were acceptable to the Indian leaders or not. Today he met a delegation of Princes and also the. Liberal leader, Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru, and a member of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, Mr Jayakar, as well as the president of the Congress Party, Mr Azad, and the president of the Moslem League, Dr. Jinnah. Tomorrow he will again meet Mr Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, the Congress leader.
