AIR BATTLES
BRITISH DAY AND NIGHT ATTACKS
VERY HEAVY RAID ON RUHR ST NAZAIRE ALSO BATTERED. LOSSES OF PLANES ON BOTH SIDES. LONDON, March 26. Eight German fighters for the loss of two of ours—this was the score achieved by our fighters this afternoon when escorting bombers in a raid on enemy shipping at Le Havre. This new demonstration of British fighter superiority followed last night’s big raid, when the German people again felt the weight of our heavy bombs. Our target last night was again the great industrial centre of the Ruhr. The raid was carried out in improved weather and is officially described as being very heavy. The results are not yet known, but- many photographs taken while the bombs were being dropped are now being examined. Another force of our bombers attacked the docks at St Nazaire and others laid mines in enemy waters. The extent of our operations is indicated by our losses —11 bombers. Over this country last night German planes dropped a few bombs over the south and south-east coast. Little damage was caused and there were no casualties.
