SOLDIER INJURED
ARMY TRUCK CAPSIZES. ACCIDENT AT OPAKI. An Army truck laden with troops capsized near Opaki Bridge yesterday afternoon and as a result Trooper Raymond Daniel James Coughlan, 19, of Waipukurau, was admitted to the Masterton Hospital suffering from head injuries. His condition this morning was reported to be unchanged. The accident occurred at about 3.50 p.m.. near the Rangitumau Road turnoff, just north of the Opaki Bridge. Just. after passing a car travelling north, the Army truck, which was proceeding south, apparently skidded in the metal on the road, hit a fence and after running along the side of the road for a distance crashed through the fence and turned over. It is stated that several men were thrown, out of the truck and one, Trooper Coughlan, received injuries which necessitated his removal to hospital.
