BONDS FOR BOMBERS
DOMINION CAMPAIGN response by public. SUBSTANTIAL TOTAL REACHED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. By last night a total of £246,039 had been subscribed throughout New Zealand to the “Bonds for Bombers” campaign. In the first two days Wellington has contributed about’ £32,000. PROVINCIAL TOTALS. Wairoa: The mayor, Mr Harker, has secured purchases of £2OOO worth of bonds. Palmerston North: City total, £9341. City and district, £20,811. New Plymouth: In the first two days eleven post offices obtained the quota. Sales yesterday were £6216, making a total of £9730. Napier: A stock firm, Messrs Williams and Kettle, purchased £lO,OOO worth of bonds. Hastings: A £5OO subscription was made yesterday. The total yesterday was £3412. Wanganui district: Sales yesterday were £7160, making a total of £10,290. Included in yesterday’s total was £3450 at Marton, where the sales now exceed £4OOO.
