HASTWELL
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) ... The annual meeting of the Ilastwell Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs: K. Ngatuere. Mrs K. Ngatuere and Miss O. Hal-, berg were appointed delegates to attend the council meeting next month. Mrs K. Ngatuere gave an interesting report of the work carried out during the year by the members. Points prizes for the year were presented to Mrs Madsen (seniors) and Miss I. Madsen (juniors). Shoulder sprays were presented to the president, Miss O. Halberg (secretary), Mrs Madsen (treasurer), Miss A. Dick (Press correspondent), Miss I. Madsen, (pianiste), and to Mrs Caseley for having kept a record of points scored during the year. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —Presi-. dent, Mrs K. Ngatuere (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mesdames Madsen and Dick and Miss I. Madsen; secretary, Miss O. Halberg (re-elected); treasurer, Mrs Madsen (re-elected); treasurer of the Soldiers’ Parcel Funds, Miss A. Dick; press correspondent, Miss M. Manihera. Miss T. Isak Son and Miss B. Halberg (tellers) were presented with sprays. A letter written by the school child*ren was read thanking the Institute for having given them such an enjoyable picnic. A letter was also received from Pte. Bryan Dick thanking the Women’s Institute for the parcels he had received at Christmas time. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs, Madsen and Miss Madsen.
