HELP FROM HUNGARY
EXPECTED BY GERMANY. ARMY OF MILLION MEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, March 22. Germany expects Hungarian help to take two forms, says “The Times” correspondent on the German First, she expects a fully-equipped army of 1,000,000 men. Hungary, arithmetically, is able to muster 1,000,000 able-bodied men, the majority of whom are already trained, but she is unable to equip and maintain them. Hungary could possibly keep 300,000 men in the field. Secondly, Hitler expects Hungary to increase her food production with the object of augmenting Axis supplies and fighting the famine which is spreading over Europe. This would be possible because her soil is far more fertile than Germany’s. Germany guarantees a permanent market at remunerative prices. This offer is alluring, but as four-fifths of the Hungarians trained as soldibrs are farmers, the withdrawal of 1,000,000 for the army would defeat the plan of raising more food for the defeat of the blockade. ,
