ARMED FORCES APPEAL BOARD SITTING IN MASTERTON. WAIRARAPA CASES DEALT WITH. A sitting of the No. 4A Armed Forces Appeal Board was held at Masterton yesterday afternoon. There were present: Messrs H. B. Lusk (chairman), F. R. Field and W. H. Barry, members of the board, and the secretary, Mr J. C. Corbishley. Mr J. S. Wauchop represented the Crown. The following cases were adjourned sine die, the name of the person lodging the appeal being given in parentheses: —William Henry Bruce Oates, farmhand (Percy Milsome Joseph Oates), appellant to do Territorial training from May 1 to July 31; lan Morison McLaren, farm manager (Trustees Estate Peter Lee McLaren), appellant to remain in Home Guard; James Alexander McLean, farm labourer (Trustees Estate J. A. McLean); Vivian Montrose Richards, firemandriver (Director of National Service); Noel Everitt, fireman-driver (Director of National Service); Patrick Owen Hamill, men’s outfitter, appellant to join the Home Guard within 14 days. The case of Douglas Young, freezing works employee (Thos. Borthwick and Sons Ltd.), was dismissed, appellant not to be called prior to June 30.
TODAY’S SITTING MANY CASES ADJOURNED SINE DIE. The No. 4A Armed Forces Appeal Board continued its sitting in Masterton today. Adjourned to next sitting: William Walter Chamberlain, general cheese worker. Dismissed, appellants not to be called prior to April 30: John Douglas McAlister, cheesemaker (Director of National Service); James Kerr Foss, cheese factory worker (Carrington Coop. Dairy Co., Ltd.); Vivian Francis Wood, cheese factory worker (Featherston Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd.).
