NEW ZEALAND CAMPAIGN FIRST DAY’S TOTAL. OVER £lOO,OOO CONTRIBUTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. With only a few small returns outstanding, over £lOO,OOO was contributed throughout New Zealand yesterday to the “Bonds for Bombers” campaign. This response is regarded as highly gratifying for the first day of the campaign. Bomber Bonds to the value of £15,000 were purchased in Wellington yesterday. Within an hour of opening, the central selling booth behind the library in Harris Street sold over £5,700 worth of bonds. The first purchaser there was Mrs R. G. Kain, mother of the late “Cobber” Kain, D.F.C. Leading Wellington contributors yesterday were: North Island Motor Union Insurance Coy., £2250; Wellington Show Association, £1150; New Zealand Educational Institute, £1000; Golden Bay Cement Coy., £4OO.
