FAREWELL GATHERING | PRESENTATION TO MR S. O'REGAN (“Times-Age’ Special.) The Eketahuna Amateur Athletic Club tendered a farewell gathering to Mr S. O'Regan at which Mr S. Daniel, president of the club, presided. Vaiious toasts were honoured during the evening, including that of memb.eis of the club who are serving with the forces, the proposer of which stated that Mr F. Russell, who had won the Wellington Provincial hop, step and jump championship on three occasions, had recently been awarded his wings in the New Zealand Air Force. Thp chairman, in proposing the toast of the guest of honour, referred to the splendid service rendered to the club by Mr O’Regan, who had been a capable officer of the club, both in an administrative capacity and also in a practical manner, especially with the scythe. He asked Mr O’Regan to accept a watch aS a small mark of the club s appreciation of. the service rendered over a long period of years. Mr J. Remnant, on behalf of thej Druids’ Lodge, of which Mr O'Regan has been an active member, presented him with a pocket wallet. In the course of his remarks Mr Remnant stated that during his stay in Eketahuna, extending over some 18 years, Mr O’Regan had filled every office in the lodge. Mr O'Regan in reply stated that whatever he had done for the Athletic Club or the lodge had been to him simply a labour of love. A ' presentation was made to Mr O’Regan on Sunday at the Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. Father E. J. Sweeney. There was a large congregation. Mr O’Regan, previous to going to Eketahuna, resided for many years in Masterton. Personal. Mr and Mrs R. Payne, Waitara, and Mrs Hunter, Christchurch, are the guests of Mr and Mrs R. Payne, Alfredton Road.
