The Maritime Commission disclosed that a new super-dimensional shipyard had been completed for the production of 200 “liberty” merchantmen. The shipyard contains a new and secret adaptation for the construction of ships by means of an assembly line like the most modern in car plants. All of the 200 ships, each of 10,500 tons, will be completed before the end of 1942.
