March 16. The New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr W. J. Jordan, in Scotland visited ships commanded by New Zealand officers and also Fleet Air Arm and, R.A.F. stations where New Zealanders are training. Lieutenant Commanders J. G. Hilliard, N. L. Mackie, Peter Phipps and H. A. Dunnet, and Lieutenant A. A. Bell, all of the R.N.V.N.R., reported very favourably on New Zealand ratings under their command and the efficiency they had attained in the Royal Navy. Mr Jordan inspected messes and sleeping quarters and congratulated the officers on the excellent arrangements for the comfort of the, personnel. At the air stations, Mr Jordan met numerous New Zealand Fleet Air Arm officers and oilier New Zealand airmen and members of the ground staff. He addressed them and observed their intensive training. Mr Jordan, during his tour, visited two mills manufacturing New Zealand linen liax. A director, Mr Mills, said he was extremely satisfied with the quality of the flax and said he was hopeful that it wq.uld be possible to receive many more shipments.
