Enemy-occupied Aerodromes in New Britain EXPLOITS OF ALLIED SUBMARINE IN PACIFIC SIR R. PEIRSE ON OUTLOOK IN BURMA LONDON, March 15. American bombers, in conjunctjion with the Royal Australian Air Force, devastated enemy occupied aerodromes on the north and south coasts of New Britain. Runways, buildings and grounded aircraft were heavily damaged in each case. An Australian message states that an Allied submarine has reached an Australian port after sinking 60,000 tons of Japanese shipping. The submarine had made a 60-day voyage and covered 15,000 miles, operating in Inao-China, Philippine and Malayan waters. Although bombed and several times attacked with depth charges, the submarine suffered only superficial damage.
