WEDDING
HEASLEY—EITHER. The marriage took place at St Matthew’s Church on Saturday afternoon of a very popular’ couple, Miss Mary Lydia Pither, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs H. E. Pither, Lansdowne, and Mr John Graham Heasley, third son of Mr and Mrs J. J. Heasley, of Tirharu. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the family—Mrs R. Burling, Mrs Madden and Miss Burling, and the service was conducted by Ven. Archdeacon Rich, while Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. The bride, who made a charming picture, entered the church escorted by her father. She wore a beautiful cream slipper satin gown cut on princess lines with full train and a pretty yoke of honiton lace. Her pretty embroidered tulle veil fell in graceful folds from a cluster of orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of roses, gladioli and lilies. Mrs F. Townsend (sister) was matron of honour, and wore a crushed strawberry crepe full length frock with fancy braided bodice and a matching queen’s halo hat of open-work felt and veiling. Her bouquet was in wine shades of dahlias, carnations, roses and gladioli. The bridegroom, who was a lieutenant in the present war, having seem service in Greece and Crete, was attended by Sergeant H. Lawson Pither. The ushers at the church were Messrs J. Richards, F. Townsend (Wellington) and Private Roland Searle (Wellington). A silver horseshoe was presented to the bride on leaving the church by her aunt, Mrs E. J. Bethell. About 150 guests were subsequently entertained at the residence of Mr and Mrs Pither. The guests were received by Mrs Pither (mother of the bride) and Mrs Heasley (mother of the bridegroom). Mrs Pither was attired in a model frock of navy marocain with insets of navy net over pink. She also wore a smart navy hai with lacquered quill and carried an autumn-tinted bouquet. Mrs Heasley wore a floral frock, navy hat and silver fox fur. Shq carried a bouquet of pink flowers. Miss Marjorie Heasley, sister of the bridegroom, was attired in a floral silk dress in shades of navy and red, with a shoulder spray of fuchsia and wore a red fox fur. . ’., , The Ven. Archdeacon Rich presided at the reception which was held at the home of the bride’s parents, the house being decorated with bowls of gladioli. A beautiful floral bell hung over the bride’s table. The following toasts were honoured: The King (proposed by Colonel Hancox); the bride and bridegroom, Ven. Archdeacon Rich; the matron of honour, Sergeant Pither; the parents (Sir Charles Norwood—Mr Heasley): absent friends and relations -Colonel George. Mr and Mrs J. G. Heasley later left for the north on their honeymoon. Mrs Heasley was dressed in a navy crepe sheer frock with royal blue fiont, finished with black silk braid and an embroidered corselage. She also woie a large black felt Breton sailor hat and carried a coat of natural coloured English homespun tweed. Mr J. G. Heasley has been transferred to the staff of the Bank of New South Wales at Cgrterton.
