STATE THEATRE

“THE BLACK WATCH.” “The Black Watch” will be finally shown tonight. “THE GHOST TRAIN.” Irresistible comedy is provided by that splendid comedian, Arthur Askey in the film version of the celebrated stage thriller, “The Ghost Train.” which will head the programme tomorrow night. This ever-appealing theme has been garbed in modern dress, and handed over to Askey to provide him with another opportunity for expressing his comic powers. He has succeeded beyond the bounds of all expectation. Askey’s style is peculiarly his own, and he is as funny in figure and gesture as he is in speech. It is Askey’s film from start to finish, but his associates, Richard Murdoch, Carole Lynn, and Linden Travers, to name a few, are equal to the occasion.
