NEXT TUESDAY
MEETING OF PARLIAMENT OPEN DISCUSSION OF WAR SITUATION. SUBJECT TO NECESSARY LIMITATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Parliament will meet at 2.30 p.m. next Tuesday, March 17, for a short session to enable members to consider the latest developments in the wav situation. This was announced last night by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, who added that he could not say at present how long the sitting would last, though he expected it would not be for more than a few days. A brief secret debate would be necessary. More than ordinary interest attaches to the sitting because Mr Fraser has stated that opportunity will bo given for discussioit in open session of various aspects of the war, particularly as it is developing in the Pacific. Within the limitation that not all the facts can be debated in open session for security reasons, it is proposed to give the opportunity for as frank a discussion as possible. This being so, it is unlikely that the proceedings can be broadcast. The public galleries will be open, however, during the open discussion.
