AGAINST WAGE INCREASE! APPLICATION. ARBITRATION COURT HEARING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The case for the employers opposing the New Zealand Engine Drivers’ application for an increase in wage rates to compensate for the increased cost of living was presented in the Arbitration Court today by the employers’ advocate, Mr W. E. Anderton, who submitted that nothing had happened since the Court’s refusal of a previous application to enable the Court to vary its decision in favour of the workers, but that much had happened which must strengthen the Court in the opinion expressed in its December judgment.
