Successes by United States submarines, against Japanese naval vessels, are announced in a communique from the United States Navy Department. The communique says: J “During the week ending on March 6, United Slates submarines, operating in Far Eastern waters, reported that the following casualties were inflicted on the naval forces of the enemy: “One destroyer leader was sunk. “One large naval tanker was sunk. “Ships damaged and definitely put out of action —: “One aircraft carrier, received two torpedo hits, “Two cruisers each received a torpedo hit, “One cruiser received two torpedo hits.

“These vessels have not been mentioned in previous communiques.”
