Mr P. Neilson, M.P., who has been a patient in the Dunedin Hospital, has recovered sufficiently to return to his home. A pleasant time was spent by Mr and Mrs H. Taylor, Hukanui, at their home recently, when they celebrated their golden wedding. Advice has been received by Mrs J. Wright, Colombo Road, Masterton, that her son. Pilot Officer Hugh Wright, is safe and well. Mr S. R. McLaughlan, who has been spending a few days with his parents at Taharoa, Longbush, will return to Ohakea tomorrow. The engagement is announced of Esme Grace, second daughter of Mr and Mrs N. E. Hannah, Otaki, formerly of Clarevifle, to Sergeant Murray, second son of Mr and Mrs G. McKenzie, Greytown. The engagement is announced of Zona Dorothv, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs C. W. Loader, High Street, Masterton, to David John (R.N.Z.A.F.), youngest son of Mi’ and Mrs F. J. Reid, Adelaide Road, Wellington.

Mr Richard Mudgway, died at Upper Hutt on Saturday in his 99th year. Born in the Hutt Valley. Mr Mudgway lived in and around that district all his life. He retired from active business life in 1918 and afterward lived quietly in Levin till recently, when he went to live with his daughter-in-law, Mrs Mudgway, Upper Hutt. The following clerical appointments in the Anglican Diocese of Auckland are announced by Bishop Simkin: The Rev. S. B. R. Corbin, vicar of Thames, to be vicar of the parish of St. Paul. Auckland, in succession to Canon C. A. B. Watson. The Rev. D. S. Miller, vicar of Queenstown, to be vicar of the parochial district of St. Thomas. Auckland, in succession to the Rev’. A. R. Allerton. The Rev. W. A. Scott, vicar of Hauraki Plains. to be vicar of the parochial district of Point Chevalier, in succession to the late Rev. W. H. W. Rattray.
