The semi-final of the champion rinks competition was played on Saturday and resulted in a win for Sorensen’s rink after a close contest to the 18th end when the scores stood 17/14 in favour of Hart. On the 19th end Sorensen scored six and the game resulted in his favour by 20/19. The players were: G. Steven, Pankhurst, Simmonds, Sorensen (s) and Aplin, Underhill, Barber, Hart (sD. Grady Medals: On the Carterton green on Saturday Simmonds and Sori ensen (s) beat Brunton and Kilgour (s) Greytown, by 21/16. Other games on Saturday resulted: —Wicks, Colson, Smith, Barr (s) beat Kilmister, Adams, McCarty, Martin (s), 20/12, and in a second game Har-i ris (s) lost to Martin, 13/15; Irwin, Booth, Riggs, Harrington (s) beat Bil- | lington, Clark, Curtis, Harris (s), 25/7; second game, Harrington beat Whyte, I 28/5; Goulden, Dudson, Stent, Hughan » (s) beat Beaven, Spooner, W. ! YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. At the annual meeting of the Carterton Young Farmers’ Club, the election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —Advisory president, Mr A. Scott; chairman, Mt J. Rose; secretary, Mr R. E. Andrews; assistant secretary, Mr B. Brasell; treasurer, Mr B. Card; supper steward, Mr A. Scott; reporter, Mr M. Renall. A committee has yet to be elected. A lengthy discussion took place concerning the future of the club and it was unanimously decided to carry on operations. Next month a debate will take place between the younger members, the subject being “That a women’s land army would be successful in New Zealand.” Red Cross Transport Dance. The Carterton unit of the Red Cross Transport will hold a dance in the State Theatre on Wednesday evening. The whole of the profits will be devoted to normal activities of the Carterton sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society. Mrs Ashton’s Orchestra will provide the music. Flower Show. The points prize at the Women’s Division flower show on Friday last resulted:—Mrs W. E. Knowles 23 points, Mrs Allen 15 points. Personal Items. The Wairarapa Deputies to the Wellington District Odd Fellows’ Conference held at Wellington on Saturday were:—P.D.G.M’s. Bros. P. M. Smith, C. J. DeLacey, J. H. Langley and P.G’s. < Bros R.
