SAVAGE CLUB PICNIC
GATHERING AT AKURA. The annual picnic of the Masterton Savage Club was held at the weekend on Mr J. H. Payton’s property at Akura. Favoured by brilliant weather, amidst beautiful native bush, a most enjoyable day was spent by the members and friends. The following are the results of the various race competitions: —Boys under 8: Russell 1, McJorrow 2. Girls under 8: Shirley Ingley 1, Marion Russell 2. Boys over 8: John Smaill 1, Bob Thorne 2. Girls over 8: Ronda Brown 1, Ella Cunningham 2. Men’s wheel-' barrow race: Bilderbeck and Payton 1. Smith and Malmo 2. Men’s ’race: Bilderbeck 1. Cottle 2. Ladies’ dressing race: Jean Crosbie 1, Verna Cormick 2. Men’s dressing race: Ashworth 1, J. Clarke 2. Boys’ cycle race: Paul Corry 1. Bill Kerslake 2. Girls' cycle race: Norma Evernden 1, Ronda Brown 2; Tiny tots race: Marcus Gallagher 1. Peter Kennedy 2. Girls’ dive: C. Lusty 1. Alison Kennedy 2. Boys’ dive: Bill Jenner 1, F. Lincock 2. Plate dive: Colin Thorne 1, Bill Jenner 2.
