CARTERTON
METHODIST CHURCH SOLD TO Y.M.C.A. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Methodist Church building that was erected at Belvedere many years ago and which until recent years was used by the Carterton Methodist Circuit, has been disposed of to the Y.M.C.A. authorities. Personal. The funeral of the late Mr Robert W. Nunn took place yesterday and was attended by a large number- of mourners. Prior to the cortege leaving for the Clareville Cemetery a short service was held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, the Rev. W. F. Stent, Vicar, conducting the ceremony and also that at the graveside. Many beautiful wreaths covered the casket, showing the high esteem in which deceased was held all over the district. The pallbearers were his six sons, Messrs John, William, Richard, Robert, Albert and James Nunn. Church Service. A Church of England service will be held at Parkvale on Sunday next at 2 p.m. Entertainment for Soldiers. The State Theatre, Carterton, should be well filled tonight on the I occasion of the dance for members of i the New Zealand defence forces. The supper arrangements are in the hands of a strong ladies’ committee. Dancing will commence at 7.30 p.m. and excellent music has been arranged. The M’s.C. will be Messrs K. Reid and P. Beere and admission is by invitation. ' School Committee Elections. The annual election of school committees in the Wellington District will take place on Monday, April 20. Law and Order. Members of the Law and Order Unit are to meet at the Courthouse, Carterton, on Tuesday night at 7.30 o’clock. Parcel Evening and Dance. On Saturday, March 14, a “parcel evening” and dance will be held in the Dalefield Hall in honour of the approaching marriage of Miss Iris Zillwood. Music will be played by Mrs Vr J. Ashton’s Orchestra and prices for admission are Is 6d. REGENT THEATRE TONIGHTS PROGRAMME. The magnificently coloured magic picture and thrilling drama, “The* Thief of Bagdad,” will be shown tonight. It features Sabu, Conrad Veidt and June Duprez, and is approved for Universal Exhibition.
