Sudden Death at Railway Station, While waiting for the departure of friends at the Wellington railway slation last night, an elderly man, Mr James Gore, of Kent Terrace, collapsed and died. He was accompanied by his wife when death occurred. Girls’ Interhouse Dance. The Interhouse Girls will hold a dance tonight in the Town Hall, and it is expected that there will be a large attendance. Many novelty dances will be featured. Mr Jack Barnes’s band will supply the music and supper will be provided. First-Aid Class. A first aid class will be held in the Social Hall, Municipal Buildings, on Tuesday evening, at 7.30 p.m., and thereafter every alternate Tuesday. All wardens and special police are requested to attend the class, which will be conducted by Dr. Archer Hosking, the St. John Ambulance, and the Medical Division of the E.P.S. Daylight Saving. The intention of the Government to take steps to extend the operation of the half-hour summer time all the year round in New Zealand for a further term was announced yesterday by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser. This was done last year by regulation. In the ordinary course of events all clocks would be put back half an hour on April 26. Death from Natural Causes. A verdict of death from natural causes was returned by the District Coroner, Mr E. G. Eton, at an inquest held at Riversdale yesterday in respect to the death of Mrs M. L. S. Campbell, aged 47, of Mauriceville, who was found dead at her daughter’s house at Riversdale. The evidence indicated that Mrs Campbell who had been left in charge of a child, put the child to sleep. SKe then laid down herself and died in her sleep.

E.P.S. On Duty. Practical experience In the direction of traffic was obtained this morning by the law and order section of the Masterton E.P.S., members of which, wearing white gauntlets, were stationed at the principal intersections in Queen Street. These men have the full powers of a special constable and in case any motorist refused to obey instructions the police were on hand to apprehend offenders.

Legations in Canada. Poland, Norway and Yugoslavia are to open legations in Ottawa. Reciprocal ministers from Canada will not be appointed till the end of the year. Ottawa already has legations representing the United States, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, the Argentine and Brazil, with High Commissioners from Empire countries. On February 5 the Prime Minister announced that Canada and Russia had concluded an arrangement in London for an exchange of consuls.
