SHOWN BY THE ENEMY IN LIBYA BRITISH COLUMNS SEEK OUT PATROLS. DETAILS OF EARLIER FIGHTING. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) RUGBY, March 5. A Cairo communique states: “The enemy was unenterprising throughout yesterday. Our mobile columns sought out enemy patrols and forced them to withdraw. “Further details of the encounter reported yesterday show that enemy forces consisting of twelve tanks and two companies of infantry were obliged to withdraw from a position northwest of Gazala. “A Free French column operated in the area south-east of Menila. “Despite rain, our air forces supported our activities in the forward area.”
