SALE AT ADDINGTON VALUES MAINTAINED. FAT CATTLE PRICES IMPROVE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 4. Store sheep were yarded in large numbers at Addington today, and values at ewe fair rates were pretty well maintained. Store lambs also sold well. Prices for both fat chttle and fat sheep were improved. Store lambs: Quality, with the exception of a few pens, was lower than for some time. Good lambs sold at last week’s rates but inferior and culls at reduced rates. Best lambs made from 20s to 23s 3d, rape lambs 17s to 19s, medium 13s to 16s 9d, and inferior to 12s 6d. Fat sheep: Generally wethers were up to Is a head better than a week ago, and light wethers and ewes by Is 6d. Ewes were bought freely for the works, exporters paying to 14s a head for them. Extra prime wethers made to 32s lOd, medium to prime 25s 6d to 31s. light and ordinary to 255, extra prime ewes to 24s 4d, prime 17s to 19s 6d, ordinary 15s to 16s 6d, and export 12s 6d to 14s 3d. Fat cattle: There was a rise in values for prime sorts of steers of up to 15s a head. Good heifers also sold at improved prices, but all medium classes of cattle and cows were from, par to a shade easier. Best quality beef made 42s to 42s 6d per 1001 b (a few pens to 43s 6d). Fat pigs: Choppers were numerous and values were lower by 10s a head. The bacon entry was the largest for weeks and there was an easing in price of 7s to 8s a head, except for exportable types. EWE FAIR AND SALE PRICES AT MASTERTON YESTERDAY. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on the Masterton ewe fair and. sale yesterday: The yards were full again. There was only a fair attendance including very few outside buyers. The few fats sold at late rates. The 2th ewes, amongst which were some particularly good sheep sold on a par with last week’s sale, the top price being 29s on account of Mr Robert Buick. There was a large offering of maiden 4th ewes which met with good competition, and Clifton Grove station topped this section at 255, while in the 4yr olds Mr H. G. Grove's ewes made 20s. The top price in the 4 and syr ewes was 17s 5d for Mr Richard Beetham’s entry, and in the 6yr ewes, 13s on account of the J. A. McLean estate. The lamb market appeared to' be slightly easier, but all vendors met the market. The following will give an indication of values received at auction: 2-tooth ewes: A/c Robt. Buick, 295; a/c A. and J. Nitz, 15s lOd; a/c H. J. Nitz, 15s Id; a/c F. W. Parry, 14s 6d; a/c Lagoon Hill, 14s; a/c D. McLeod, 14s 4d; a/c Te Parea, 13s 3d; others, 12s, 12s 7d, 13s to 13s 6d. 6-year ewes: A/c J. A.
