RAILING & GATES
SLIGHTING REFERENCE TO EARL BALDWIN. MADE IN HOUSE OF COMMONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 4. “All Lord Baldwin’s railings and gates have been taken for scrap metal except a pair of gates at the entrance to his drive which were presented to him on his retirement,” said Mr G. Hicks (Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works) replying to a question in the House of Commons. Captain Graham: “Are you aware that it was most necessary to leave Lord Baldwin these gates in order to protect him from the mob's just indignation?” Mr Hicks did not reply.
