An Admiralty communique states: A Junkers 88, which attempted to attack, has been shot down by his Majesty’s trawler Negro. The Junkers 88 dived to the attack, with the moon behind it, and passed close over the ship. It was received with a single burst of anti-aircraft fire and immediately burst into flames and crashed into the sea. No casualties or damage was sustained by the Negro.
