ASSURANCE OF AMERICAN SYMPATHY. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (By re eg p WASHINGTONj March 2 . ’ The Assistant-Secretary of State, Mr Sumner Welles, told the Press that the United States sympathises with the Koreans’ efforts to obtain independence from Japan and added that Korean recognition was at present under consideration. Mr Welles announced that he would sign agreements on March 3 with the Brazilian Finance Minister, Senhor De Souza Costa, regarding the new LendLease plan and the Amazon Basin development project.
