GALLANT AIRMAN
WING COMMANDER ISHERWOOD RECOGNITION OF SERVICE IN RUSSIA. PARENTS LIVING IN BLENHEIM. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 3. Official advice has been received at Air Headquarters that the D.F.C. has been awarded to Wing Commander Henry Neville Gynes RamsbottomIshe'rwood. A.F.C., R.A.F. Wing Commander Isherwood was awarded the Affi Force Cross in 1940. Educated in Blenheim, he left a commercial position in 1930, when he joined the R.A.F. Last September it was announced that he had been placed in command of the R.A.F. wing in Russia. In November it was announced that he had been awarded the Order of Lenin, the highest Soviet decoration, and that this was the first award to a foreigner for military achievement.
Wing Commander RamsbottomIsherwood is married, with one child. His parents reside in Blenheim.
