TARANAKI MEETING CUP WON BY DYNASTY. WIN FOR BLACK ROBE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 1. Dynasty won the Taranaki Cup with a stayer’s run on the opening day of the Taranaki Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, which was held in fine weather and on a firm and fast track. The totalisator handled £26,154 10s, compared with £18,508 10s on Centennial Cup day last year (a Thursday). Results: — Waitara Hurdles, 11-m. and 100yds.: 6/6, Sunfire (Lewis), 1; 3/3, Student Prince, 2; 1/1, Resingold, 3. Great Quex finished first one length and a quarter ahead of Sunfire, but was disqualified, his jockey weighing in light. Student Prince was five lengths back. Time, 2.51 2-5. The Dunedin Cup meeting was held in mixed weather, the last three or four races being run during a fall of rain. The Publican’s Handicap was completely spoilt by the favourites, Secret Flight and Lord Nuffield, being hopelessly left through not being up to the barrier in a snap start.
