STILL IN ACTION
ALLIED NAVAL FORCES OFF JAVA CONTINUING TO INFLICT LOSSES. DUTCH CRUISERS GO DOWN FIRING. LONDON, March 1. The following total naval losses in the Battle of Java are officially announced from Java as follows: Japanese: One cruiser sunk, one cruiser badly damaged, one Mogami class cruiser damaged; and three destroyers sunk or sinking when last seen: Allies: Two Dutch cruisers sunk, one destroyer sunk; and one cruiser damaged and one destroyer beached. The destroyer beached was one of a naval force which opposed the landing in the Bantam area. Near Rembang Allied planes sank e transport and damaged another. The enemy landing there was made on a wide front. In fighting off Indramaju one Japanese cruiser was blown up and seven other enemy vessels, including a cruiser and four transports, were sunk. It is learned that the defending naval forces were ordered to delay and damage the enemy at all costs. The two Dutch cruisers went down firing and with their colours flying. A correspondent says the Allied naval forces are still in action and continuing to inflict losses. The air over Java resounds with the noise of aircraft, and the Allied planes are grounding only to refuel .and reload their racks.
