FEATHERSTON
RED CROSS SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Featherston sub-centre of the Red Cross Society held in the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs G. S. Sharp presided. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The resignation of the secretary, Mrs J. E. Willett, was received with regret. Mrs Sharp expressed appreciation of the splendid work Mrs Willett had carried out during her three years as secretary. Mrs Willett suitably replied. Mrs Sharp presented Miss Joan Willett with a book in appreciation of her work as the model foi' the V.A. classes. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patroness, Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford; president, Mrs G. S. Sharp; vice-president, Mesdames Carlyon, McKenzie and Miss Card; secretary, Mrs H. C. Hunter; treasurer, Mrs H. Lawson; committee, Mesdames Q. Donald, Arch Clark, R. P. Hardy, V. Bergh, H. R. Bloxam, H. Cundy, W. Feast, A. Peene, J. Elliot, J. Holland, J. Cassidy, N. C. Shepherd, J. McKenna, A. S. Kilsby, M. Baker, M. Tutbury, Chas. Skipage, Miss Goodrick; delegates to the Wairarapa Centre, Mesdames Sharp and Hunter; auditor, Mr C. W. Ritchie. Mrs Carlyon expressed her thanks for what had been done by the subcentre for her son since his return from Greece and Crete. Mrs Riddiford presented the First Air Medallions and Certificates and Home Nursing Medallions to the winners. Mrs Sharp welcomed the speaker for the afternoon, Countess Wodzicki, wife of the Polish Consul, who delivered a very interesting address on Poland’s part in the war, for which she was warmly thanked. Personal. Mrs Allen Donald has returned from a holiday spent in Wellington. COSY THEATRE “VIRGINIA” TONIGHT. A splendid love story “Virginia,” in which the leading roles will be taken by Madaleine Carroll and Fred MacMurray, will be presented tonight at the Cosy Theatre. It is recommended by the Censor for adults.
