FURTHER RETIREMENT
MADE BY BRITISH TROOPS IN BURMA NO ENEMY ATTEMPT TO CROSS SITTANG STRICT CONTROL IN RANGOON. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.25 p.m.) RANGOON, February 27. Heavy pressure by the Japanese has caused a further withdrawal by the British force’s across the Sittang River, in order to make the British line more secure, states a communique from Rangoon. The enemy has not attempted to cross the Sittang since the British withdrawal. The present inactivity shows that enemy casualties have been heavy. Since the military authorities took ever control of Rangoon, the shooting of looters and incendiaries has had a great effect.
