DEATH FROM WOUND
FATE OF DALMATIAN SETTLER. OUTCOME OF PRACTICAL JOKE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ' WHANG AREI, This Day. Steven Urlich, of Houhora, died in the -Mangonui District Hospital, at Kaitaia, this uorning. Although suffering from a grievous abdominal wound, he' was able to converse freely with his sons and other members of his family and the police. He confirmed fully the version of the tragedy given yesterday. It is understood that independent witnesses corroborated the story of the practical which had such terrible consequences. Urlich was one of the bestknown Dalmatians in the Far North and was a man of massive physique. Urlich was shot by his son, aged 16|, when he returned home in the darkness and was mistaken by the boy for a trespasser. Intent on playing a practical joke, Urlich did not reply when ■ his son called out to him.
