OBITUARY
MRS D. CAIRNS. The death occurred at the residence of her daughter, Mrs C. E. Tagg, Cole Street, Masterton. yesterday, of Mrs Sophia Cairns, wife of Mr David Cairns. Wanganui, in her 82nd year. Born in Fifeshire, Scotland, she was married in 1882. and would have celebrated the diamond anniversary of her wedding in July. Arriving in New Zealand 39 years ago with her husband and family, the late Mrs Cairns settled in Masterton for a short period, before moving to the Lower Hutt and Waikato districts. In later years she had resided in Wanganui. A quiet and faithful worker in the Church of Christ of which she had been a member since early childhood, she made many friends, and was highly respected by those who knew her. She leaves a husband, four sons (Messrs David, Lower Hutt; George, Alexander, Wanganui, and Jack Cairns. Tirav), and two daughters (Mrs A. Wood, Bunnythorpe, and Mrs C. Tagg, Masterton), 22 grandchildien and three greatgrandchildren to mourn their loss. The funeral will leave the Chapel of Hydes Funcri’i Service Ltd., for the Masterton Cemetery on Monday afternoon, following a service at 1 o’clock.
