INVESTMENT EMBARGO
SOME HOPES OF RELIEF IN AUSTRALIA. INQUIRY BY ALL-PARTY COMMITTEE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, February 26. The appointment of an all-party committee to examine the Government’s economic regulations has given investors new hope that some easing of the embargo on free dealings in property and securities will shortly be forthcoming. One suggestion put forward by Stock Exchange operators is that an investor should be allowed to buy shares provided he or she invests an equivalent or proportionate amount in Commonwealth loans. It is further contended that any tendency toward speculation could be obviated if share buyers were required to sign a statutory declaration that they would not resell within, a specified period except with the per-, mission of the Treasury.
