“ALADDIN”

WILLIAMSON PANTOMIME.. There was a large demand for seats when the box plans were opened this morning for the production of J. C. Williamson’s brilliant pantomime “Aladdin,” which is to be staged at the Opera House on Saturday and Monday nights next and Monday afternoon. During the progress of “Aladdin,” the Great Levante, who plays the role of Abanazar, will present some magical features, none of which have previously been exploited in New Zealand. It has been the aim of the producers of "Aladdin” to provide refreshing entertainment for adults and entertainment that may also be thoroughly enjoyed and understood by children. Ed. Edwards is a great success as Widow Twankey. The principal boy, Miss Doris Whimp, has a good singing voice and a vivacious and charming personality. Four outstanding comedians and dancers are Lawrie Long, Joe Valli, Ronnie Shand and George Corelli, and their brilliant work is a feature of the show. Not since the Russian Ballet visited New Zealand have audiences witnessed such brilliant dancing as that which is seen in “Aladdin.” A thrilling featurette is “The Floating Princess.”
