LARGE TANKER
TORPEDOED OFF AMERICAN COAST. ELEVEN MEMBERS OF CREW LOST. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, February 24. The Navy announced that the 8000ton United States tanker, Cities Service Empire, was torpedoed and sunk off the Atlantic coast early on Sunday. Eleven members of the crew were lost. Thirty survivors landed at Fort Pierce, Florida.
