ENEMY AIRCRAFT LOSSES IN RANGOON AREA SINCE RAIDS ON CITY BEGAN. DEMONSTRATION OF R.A.F. SUPERIORITY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.56 a.m.) RUGBY, February 25. The completeness of R.A.F. superiority in the Rangoon area is shown by figures given in a Rangoon communique, which says that since the first raid the Japanese have lost 122 planes destroyed, 43 probably destroyed and 42 damaged. The R.A.F. losses have been 12 planes and one has been damaged. The communique adds: “Two enemy planes were shot down and two otheis probably destroyed in an air combat at 9.30 a.m. today, when 24 Japanese planes raided Rangoon. We suffered no losses. The enemy also raided an aerodrome north of Rangoon lour times. There was slight damage but no casualties.” It was later announced that 30 Japanese fighter planes had been destroyed today. It was not stated whether they were shot down or destroyed on the ground.
