NARROW ESCAPE FOR PAPEN & HIS WIFE THROWN TO GROUND & SHAKEN. SUPPOSED ASSAILANT BLOWN TO PIECES. LONDON, February 24. Dr. von Papen, German Ambassador to Turkey, and his wife had a narrow escape from death when a bomb exploded near them in an Ankara street. They were thrown to the ground and shaken. A man believed to have been responsible for throwing the bomb was blown to pieces.
