inter=club match MASTERTON v. PARK. ENJOYABLE GAMES. In glorious sunshine and on a splendid playing surface, the friendship existing between the two clubs was further cemented when six teams from the Masterton Club paid their return visit to the Park Club during the weekend. Mr E. J. Burke welcomed the visitors, Mi’ Geo. Hayne replying. Two games, the first of 12 ends and the second of 15 ends, were played and the games proved most enjoyable. After the rain, the green and its surroundings were at their best. After the first game afternoon tea was served to the bowlers and their wives and friends. Smith (s) drew with Lewis, Shouler, Hayne, Stubbings (s), 8/8; Heath, McErlich, Leigh, Shearer (s) lost to Palamontain, Kennedy, Percy, Carstens (s), 5/15;; O’Donnell, Fenton, Spademan, Burke (s), beat Holdsworth, Murdock, Hunter, Finlayson (s) 12-5; Perry Newton, Buckley, Wallis (s) (sub for Masterton) lost to Ryan, Dodgson, McCord, Macpherson (s), 4-10; Second games: Carr lost to Carstens 10-13; Shearer lost to Finlayson 12-18; Thompson drew with Bannister 13-13; Wallis drew with Stubbings 13-13; Burke lost to E. Reid 11-12; Smith beat Morton 21-10; G. Brown beat Macpherson 274. Totals: Masterton, 81 games, 158 points; Park, 51 games, 164 points. At the conclusion of the games Mr Hayne thanked the Park Club for their hospitality and expressed the hope that this tourney would be the forerunner of many more.
PARK CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITIONS. Owing to the inclement weather experienced during the latter part of the week, the championship games were not completed, but with the improvement in the weather these should be finalised by the end of this w,eek, after which it is proposed to play the return match, Colonials versus The Rest. Competition results are as follows: — Championship singles: H. Smith defeated P. Thompson 23-16; Smith will now meet Trcvorrow in the semi-final, the winner to play H. Carr in the final. Championship fours: It is hoped to play the final between H. Smith’s four and Dixon’s on Saturday next. Thompson Cup: E. Brown beat C. Leigh 25-16; Trcvorrow beat Osborne 22-17; Drummond beat P. Thompson 21-13. Ferns: Kilgour and H. Thompson, who have held these for some time, staving off many challengers, went down to Jenkins and Reader 20/19.
