STOCK MARKET

SALE AT ADDINGTON VALUES GENERALLY * MAINTAINED. PORKER PRICES IMPROVED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 18., Entries were above normal at today s Addington sale, particularly .in the store ewe section. Generally values were maintained on a parity with those ruling last week. For store lambs the demand was well sustained, despite the narrowness of the margin lambs are showing tor fattening. Quality was from fair to good, with a small proportion of small and backward. Fat lambs: Exporters operated well within the present export schedule of 8 5-8 d per lb., but prices were scarcely as firm as at last week's firm sale. Fat sheep: Values were little changed, with the exception of wethers, which were slightly easier. Fat cattle: The market for good steers and heifers showed a slight improvement on last week’s rates, but there was no change in the other classes, light cows being a shade easier. Fat pigs: The porker entry was of similar size to that of last week and values improved on those at the start by 2s to 3s a head. Choppers were in medium supply and values were unchanged. There was a larger yarding of baconers and a good sale, values being a shade better than those last week.
