WILL FIGHT AGAIN

AMERICAN DESTROYER IN SPITE OF BOMB DAMAGE AT PEARL HARBOUR. VOYAGE MADE TO CALIFORNIA FOR REPAIRS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.30 p.m.) HONOLULU, February 17. It is disclosed that the United States destroyer Shaw, which the Japanese claimed to have destroyed in their Pearl Harbour attack, has arrived safely at an American west coast port. The Shaw was in dry dock at the time of the attack and was hit repeatedly by bombs, one of which exploded in the ship’s magazine, wrecking the ship’s forward section. After repairs lasting for two months, the Shaw, equipped with a stub emergency bow, proceeded under her own power to the United States, where she is now being reconditioned.
