RED CROSS SOCIETY SUCCESSFUL SHOP DAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The weekly shop day held by the Red Cross Society was very successful, the donations received being greatly appreciated. The competition for a golliwog made and donated by Mrs G. Corlet. of Masterton. realised 15s and was won by Bernice Smart. The afternoon tea and drinks for children were well patronised. This week the shop will be in charge of Mesdames R. J. Clarke and R. Rhodes. Donations of cakes and produce will be greatly appreciated by the organisers.
1 Soldiers' Parcels. Further parcels have been forwarded from the district to local soldiers serving overseas. The following is an extract from a letter received from one recipient: —“I wish to express to you my appreciation of the parcels which your Institute has thoughtfully forwarded to me. One arrived at a very opportune time, by that I mean Christmas, when a parcel means so much more than on other occasions. The contents were in perfect condition and. believe me, were greatly appreciated, not only by myself, but by my tent mates. If you were able to see the manner in which these parcels were received and how they were looked forward to, it would well repay you for the work you have put into the making and forwarding of these par-1 cels. Taken as an all-round parcel, to meet one’s needs, you can 1 rest assured! it could not be bettered.”
