OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS

E.P.S. & CYCLISTS (To the Editor.) Sir—l believe the E.P.S. spent a very enjoyable evening on Wednesday night catching children on bicycles, without lights attached, and a good time was had by all (except the cyclists). I understand the E.P.S. was organised afc a war precaution in the event of an enemy invasion, but perhaps the authorities think that children are potential invaders. Is this just the thin edge of the wedge, and will the E-.P.S. go further and eventually do the job just for fun. and do away altogether with men who are paid for their services? Thanking you for your space, I am, etc., -NOT CAUGHT.” Masterton. February 15.

Mr T. Jordan, chairman of the Masterton E.P.S. general committee, states that no member of the E.P.S. organisation had any authority in respect to jurisdiction over cyclists, as stated by our correspondent. TEAM SPIRIT IN CRICKET (To the Editor.) Sir,— Perhaps I am treading on dangerous ground, but I think a little controversy at times might do some good. Watching the local cricket competitions this season one cannot help notice a lack of team spirit in all of the teams I have seen in action. And (hey can all do with a brush up m fielding work and team spirit for the sake of this grand old game. I will leave it to the coach. —Yours, etc., OLD TIMER. Masterton, February 14.
