Company Manager Sentenced.
Albert Garnet Anderson, company manager, was sentenced in the Supreme Court, Dunedin, yesterday, to reformative detention for six months on charges of theft and forgery. On a charge of attempted suicide he was ordered to come up for sentence within a. year if called. Counsel stated that prisoner had been drinking and living beyond his means. He was a qualified solicitor and must necessarily be struck off the roll. Robbery Under Arms. Prisoner's previous convictions rendered it absolutely certain that he would have to submit to a period of (discipline in which he might acquire stability, said Mr Justice Johnston, when sentencing in the Supreme Court, Wellington, yesterday, Gwilt George Stone motor driver, aged 21, for robbery while armed. Stone ordered a taxi drivei- to drive from the city to Lyall Bay, and there, presenting a pistol or what looked like one, demanded and received money. He was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention.
