SOVIET THRUSTS

INTO WHITE RUSSIA SMOLENSK APPARENTLY BYPASSED. CONSIDERABLE WESTWARD ADVANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, February 13. According to messages from the front received in Moscow, the Red Army has re-entered Whife Russia and is continuing to advance westward. This means that the Russians have pushed on beyond Smolensk and represents a considerable advance westwards of any point yet definitely announced as recaptured. The re-entry into White Russia probably was accomplished by advance units operating in Smolensk Province. A message received in Stockholm from Berlin states that the Rumanians at Odessa are powerless to overcome the activities of Russian guerillas who live in catacombs, and have buried them alive by walling up the entrances. A Soviet communique merely states that the Russians continued their offensive against the enemy during last night, a British Official Wireless message states.
