A half-caste Maori ran amuck af Waihopo, on the Northland, gumfields, and left a trail of devastation. He burned a Dalmatian’s house to the ground, smashed another with a sledge hammer, tried to set fire to a public hall and set alight a gum tip valued af between £2OO and £3OO. Finally he was found practically undressed in manuka scrub and arrested by the police. He was before the Court and remanded for a week. Arrangements are being made for his medical examination.
